Chapter 4-4: The ILF Editor

The Edit Modes and Options

When you enter the editor, you are initially placed in display mode. If you are reviewing or editing an existing routine, the first statements display on the screen (the exact number may vary, depending upon your terminal). If you are creating a new routine, all you see is [end] that indicates the end of the statements. To review existing statements, select from among the standard scrolling options to move around in an ILF routine. You can also use the arrow keys to position to a specific statement. If you want to perform any function other than displaying statements, you can select any of several other options. The following options are available (see corresponding sections for details):

Toolbox allows quick access to the Database Management option.

Move provides for moving selected statements within the ILF routine.

Copy provides for duplicating selected statements within the ILF routine.

Search provides for searching the ILF routine for specific text.

Replace provides for replacing specific text within the ILF routine.

XCopy (external copy) provides for copying selected statements from another ILF routine.

Select provides for selecting a block of code to move or copy to another process or event point

Paste provides for inserting the lines of code copied to the clipboard. The data on the clipboard may have come from a previously executed Select function or from another source on the desktop, the Appx Wiki for example.

Restore provides the ability to revert any changes made in this event point up to the last time the save was invoked.

Save Saves the event point and returns to the image level screen.
